Ingredients

  • 2 lb (900 g) beef chuck/steak, cut into 1½-inch cubes

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, cubed

  • 1 cup (240 ml) beef broth

  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tbsp minced garlic

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp garlic/onion seasoning blend

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

  • ¼ tsp red-pepper flakes, optional

  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

Method

  1. Pat beef dry and cut into even cubes.

  2. Put beef in the slow cooker. Add Worcestershire, broth, garlic, salt, pepper, seasoning, paprika and red-pepper flakes.

  3. Scatter butter over the top.

  4. Cover and cook LOW 3–4 hours, until tender. Avoid substantially overcooking or the beef can become dry.

  5. Stir well, taste, and adjust seasoning.

  6. Garnish with parsley and serve with mashed potatoes, rice, noodles or vegetables.
