Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh orange juice

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

  • 3 tablespoons unflavored gelatin

  • 1/4 cup cold water

  • 1 teaspoon orange zest (optional)

  • Extra sugar for coating (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the gelatin: Pour cold water into a small bowl. Sprinkle the gelatin over it and let it bloom for 5–10 minutes.

  2. Heat the juice: Add orange juice, sugar, lemon juice, and orange zest to a saucepan. Stir over medium-low heat until the sugar dissolves.

  3. Add gelatin: Reduce the heat to low and stir in the bloomed gelatin until completely dissolved. Do not let the mixture boil.

  4. Pour into a dish: Lightly grease a small glass dish or line it with parchment paper. Pour in the orange mixture.

  5. Chill: Let it cool, then refrigerate for 3–4 hours or until firm.

  6. Cut into cubes: Remove the set jelly and cut it into small squares using a sharp knife.

  7. Coat and serve: Roll the cubes in granulated sugar if desired. Allow them to dry briefly before serving.

Quick tips

  • For a stronger orange flavor, use freshly squeezed juice and a little orange zest.
