Ingredients

  • 2 cups (300–350 g) fresh or frozen cherries, pitted

  • 4 cups (950 ml) water

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 1–2 bay leaves

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice, optional

  • Honey to taste, optional

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the cherries

Wash the cherries thoroughly and remove their stems and pits. If using frozen cherries, thawing is not necessary.

Step 2: Combine the ingredients

Place the cherries, water, cinnamon sticks, and bay leaves in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat

Step 3: Simmer

Reduce the heat and simmer uncovered for 15–20 minutes. Gently mash some of the cherries with a spoon to release their juice and color.

Step 4: Strain the drink

Turn off the heat. Remove the cinnamon sticks and bay leaves, then strain the liquid through a fine-mesh sieve into a heat-safe jug. Press the cherries gently to extract their juice.

Step 5: Finish and serve

Add lemon juice if desired. Taste and add a little honey if you prefer a sweeter drink. Enjoy warm, or cool and refrigerate for an iced version.

Storage

  • Refrigerate in a clean, covered container and use within 3–4 days.

  • Reheat only the portion you plan to drink.

  • Discard the drink if its smell, appearance, or texture changes unexpectedly.

Frequently asked questions

Q1: Does this tea balance hormones?

There is no good clinical evidence that this cherry, cinnamon, and bay-leaf drink balances hormones. Hormonal symptoms can have different causes and may require individual medical advice.

Q2: Does it cause weight loss?

No tea has been shown to cause meaningful weight loss on its own. This unsweetened drink can be an alternative to sugary beverages, but it does not specifically burn body fat.

Q3: Can I drink it every day?

Occasional servings as a normal beverage are generally reasonable for many people. However, concentrated herbal preparations may not be suitable for everyone, particularly during pregnancy, while taking medication, or with certain health conditions.

Q4: Can I drink it cold?

Yes. Refrigerate it after cooling and serve over ice.

Q5: Can I leave out the bay leaves?

Yes. Cherries and cinnamon alone make a pleasant drink. Always remove bay leaves before serving because they remain tough even after cooking.
