Spicy Stir-fried Cauliflower Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium cauliflower, cut into florets

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or any cooking oil)

  • 1 onion, thinly sliced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1-inch piece of ginger, minced

  • 1-2 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust to spice preference)

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or lemon juice

  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce or sriracha (adjust to spice preference)

  • 1 teaspoon paprika or red chili powder

  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric (optional for color)

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the cauliflower:

    • Wash and cut the cauliflower into small bite-sized florets. Set aside.

  2. Stir-fry the cauliflower:

    • Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.

    • Add the cauliflower florets and stir-fry them for 5-6 minutes until they start to turn golden and crisp on the edges. You can cover the pan to help them cook through, stirring occasionally. Once done, transfer the cauliflower to a plate and set aside.

  3. Sauté aromatics:

    • In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of oil.

    • Add the sliced onion and sauté until soft and slightly caramelized, about 4 minutes.

    • Add the garlic, ginger, and green chilies, and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  4. Add the spices and sauce:

    • Stir in the paprika, cumin powder, and turmeric (if using). Mix well.

    • Add the soy sauce, rice vinegar (or lemon juice), and chili sauce or sriracha. Stir to combine.

  5. Combine cauliflower with the sauce:

    • Return the cauliflower florets to the pan and toss to coat evenly with the sauce and spices.

    • Stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes, letting the flavors meld together. Adjust salt to taste.

  6. Garnish and serve:

    • Once done, garnish with fresh cilantro and sesame seeds if desired.

    • Serve hot with rice or as a side dish.
