Ingredients
-
2–3 lb chicken wings
-
1½ lb potatoes, cut into wedges
-
1 medium onion, diced
-
4–5 garlic cloves, minced
-
3 tablespoons olive oil
-
½ cup chicken broth
-
2 tablespoons butter, melted
-
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
-
1 teaspoon paprika
-
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
-
1 teaspoon garlic powder
-
½ teaspoon onion powder
-
½ teaspoon black pepper
-
1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
-
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
-
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
1. Prepare the ingredients: Wash and cut the potatoes into wedges. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels so the seasoning sticks well.
2. Make the seasoning: In a large bowl, combine olive oil, melted butter, minced garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, Parmesan cheese, and Worcestershire sauce.
3. Season the chicken and potatoes: Add the chicken wings and potato wedges to the bowl. Toss thoroughly until everything is evenly coated with the garlic seasoning.
4. Prepare the slow cooker: Lightly grease the slow cooker or line it with a suitable slow-cooker liner. Spread the diced onion over the bottom.
5. Add the ingredients: Arrange the seasoned potatoes and chicken wings in the slow cooker. Pour the chicken broth around the edges rather than directly over the chicken to help preserve the seasoning.
6. Cook slowly: Cover and cook on LOW for 4–5 hours or HIGH for 2–3 hours, until the potatoes are tender and the chicken is thoroughly cooked. Cooking time depends on the size of the wings and your slow cooker.
7. Check doneness: Use a food thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches at least 165°F (74°C) internally. For more tender wings, you can cook them longer, checking that they do not dry out.
8. Make the wings crispy (optional): Transfer the cooked wings to a baking sheet and broil for 3–5 minutes, watching carefully, until the skin is browned and crisp. Do the same with the potatoes if desired.
9. Finish and serve: Spoon a little of the cooking liquid over the potatoes, sprinkle with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan, and serve hot.
